DATE/TIME: 19/june/2005 (11 a.m.) - IDENTIFICATION AND BEHAVIOUR: The bird is perched on the top of a tall tree near Mount Labbro. Rocky zone with rough ground, scattered bushes and trees. - POSITION: Mount Labbro, LAT. N. 42 48'/ LONG. E 11 33' - ALTITUDE: +1100 m. - VOCALIZATION TYPE: full song - SEX/AGE: adult male - COMMENT: Time interval between phrases has been reduced in the song sample (background: woodlark). This male seems singing in competition with a neighbour cirl bunting (see 2nd spectrogram). It sings two different phrase types in this song bout. The second type is sung in two slightly different ways: compare the 1st and 3rd spectrograms and note that they are composed by respectively 9 and 10 syllables. Mean phrase duration = 1.50 s. (S.D. = 0.09 s.; n=9). Mean interval between phrases: 10.66 s. (S.D. = 3.73 s.; n=7). - MIC: (A)

Rocky zone with rough ground and scattered bushes. - POSITION: Mount Buceto near Mount Labbro, LAT. N. 42 48'/ LONG. E 11 33' - ALTITUDE: +1000 m. - VOCALIZATION TYPE: full song. - SEX/AGE: adult male - COMMENT: Also this male sings two different phrase types (note: both are different from those of Call 1). Time interval between phrases has been reduced in the spectrogram, but not in the song sample. The ortolan buntings of Mount Labbro are a small residual population of less than 10 pairs. Mean phrase duration: 1.46 s. (S.D. = 0.17; n=11). Mean interval between phrases: 2.82 s. (S.D. = 1.08 s.; n=7). - MIC: (A)
